Description
No 4 on Mansion House Street is a building that was refronted in the mid to late 19th century, although it incorporates elements from an older structure. It stands three storeys tall and features three windows. The roof is hipped and covered with tiles. The building is constructed from grey brick, accented with red brick dressings and quoins. It has a moulded brick cornice and a blocking course. The windows are architraved sash windows with glazing bars, and there is a central bay with blind windows. The late 19th-century shopfront adds to its character. At the rear, which overlooks the River Kennet, there is a two-storey brick range with two windows. The first floor has early 19th-century splayed oriel windows with hipped slate roofs, panelled aprons, and glazing bars. The ground floor features two-light architraved windows with glazing bars.
