Description

Wellhouse Cottage is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is timber framed and has been refaced with brick and flint, with an old tile roof that is higher over the left-hand bay and half-hipped to the left. A gabled dormer window with a two-light casement sits to the left, and there is a central ridge stack. The cottage has two framed bays and one and a half storeys. A two-light leaded casement window is in the left-hand bay, and a three-light leaded casement window is to the right. A 20th-century half-glazed door and a gabled porch are located to the left, with a boarded door between the windows, positioned off-centre to the right. A one-storey brick and tile addition was built in the 20th century on the right. Inside the right-hand bay is a well and a queen post truss. The building contains a well that historically supplied water to the village.
