Description

Byways Thatch is a 17th-century cottage located on the south side of Holly Lane in Ashampstead. It features a timber frame with painted brick nogging and a hipped thatched roof that sweeps down over a lean-to extension on the left side, as well as a projecting 20th-century porch on the right. The cottage has two eyebrow semi-dormers on the left, each with leaded casements. There is an off-centre ridge stack to the right and an end stack on the left. The building consists of four framed bays and is 1½ storeys high. The porch on the right has a boarded door, while the left side has four 2-light leaded casements, and there is one 3-light leaded casement positioned between the first and third 2-light casements from the left.
