Description

35 and 35A Oxford Street are an early to mid-18th century pair of houses that have been altered. The buildings are two storeys high, with an attic and a semi-basement, and each house features two windows. An early 19th-century attic storey has been added, and they have a hipped tile roof with brick stacks. The houses are constructed of red brick, highlighted by a moulded brick cornice and a plain brick band at the first floor level. The windows on the ground floor are 2-light casements with leaded lights, set beneath gauged segmental red brick arches with keys; however, the first-floor windows in the outer bays have been recently blocked. The entrance features paired segmental arched doorways, each with bracketed hoods and panelled doors, which are accessed by a flight of steps with a wrought-iron handrail.
