Description

The Old Post Office is a house located in Bucklebury, dating from the 17th century with 19th-century refacing. It features a combination of brick and timber framing, with brick nogging and curved braces. The south side has been later refaced in brick. The building has an old tile roof with end stacks and includes a single-storey brick lean-to on the right, also with an old tile roof.

The structure consists of two framed bays and stands two storeys tall. The first floor has two 19th-century casement windows and a smaller 20th-century casement window in between. The ground floor has two segmental-headed casement windows and a segmental-headed doorway with a boarded door located in the lean-to on the right. The timber frame is exposed at the rear, showcasing a queen post truss in the right-hand gable end.

To the left, there is a block that is timber framed with exposed brick nogging and curved braces on the north side, with later brick refacing on the south. This block has an old tile half-hipped roof and a gabled dormer with a casement window. It consists of three framed bays and is one storey with an attic. The left side features a segmental-headed casement window, while the right side has a segmental-headed doorway with a boarded door and a 19th-century gabled porch.
