Description
Bottom House Lodge is an estate lodge built in 1885 by Alfred Waterhouse. It is constructed of red brick featuring raised brick diapering and bands in the gables, with corbelled corners and toothed verges. The roof is made of plain tiles with gabled ends, and there is a brick axial stack at the center topped with a corbelled brick cap. The building has a cruciform plan with porches and outshuts at the angles. It stands two storeys tall with asymmetrical elevations. The gable ends of the wings showcase patterned brickwork and have 2, 3, and 4-light casements with glazing bars in the top lights, set within segmental arch openings. There is a wooden lean-to open porch in the angle supported by a timber post and featuring a wooden arch. The main roof extends down as a catslide over the outshut at the side. The interior has not been inspected.
