Description
The Chestnuts is a house that has been converted into three flats. It dates from the early 18th century and early 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick with tuck pointing and features a hipped slate roof, with a hipped tile roof at the rear. It has an L-shaped plan with a wing to the right at the back.
The left-hand block is two storeys high and has five bays, with segmental-headed glazing bar sash windows. The central entrance features a six-panelled door with a radial fanlight, imposts, and a keystone. This doorcase is adorned with Tuscan pilasters that support an entablature with a pulvinated frieze and a triangular pediment.
The right-hand block, which is from the early 19th century, is also made of red brick and has a hipped slate roof. It is two storeys tall with an end stack to the right and consists of two bays with segmental-headed glazing bar sashes.
