Description
This building, located 50 metres northwest of Morewood House, is an orangery that has been converted into a store. It dates from around 1705 to 1718 and features red brick walls in English bond, except for the south wall, which is timber framed. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has a half-hipped design with a central cupola. The south wall consists of four bays, with the right-hand bay having full-height boarded doors, while the other bays each contain three fixed lights with four by six panes, situated between a transom and a continuous brick cill. Above the windows, each bay is divided by a stud into two panels with brick nogging, which are secondary and likely replace earlier glazed lights. A pediment with a clock was added to the center of the building in the early 19th century. The east and north elevations are relatively plain, featuring a blocked window and a projecting chimney stack, respectively. Inside, there is a simple open fireplace with a projecting hearth made of small bricks located in the center of the north wall. The four-bay king post roof structure is exposed.
