Description
The Church of St Mark is the parish church for Woolston, built in 1863 and enlarged in 1866 and 1867 by William White. It is constructed of stone rubble with a slate roof and features a nave and a lower chancel. The church has a four-bay nave, a narrow north aisle, and a wide south aisle. The south chapel includes a polygonal apse and there is a clerestory above. A gabled porch is located on the north side. Although a tower and spire were originally planned for the north-west corner, only the aisle height was completed. Inside, the wall surfaces are finished with brick polychromy. The south chapel apse contains four small stained glass windows made by Morris and Co in 1887.
