Description

The Supermarine Slipway is a platform made of pre-cast, likely reinforced, concrete slabs. It originally had a tarmac cover, of which only patches are left. There are visible marks of repair and resurfacing on the concrete slabs. The platform extends down to the water and is supported by concrete beams, which are in turn supported by lines of square concrete pillars arranged in groups of three, sunk below the water's surface. This slipway is the only remaining structure from the Supermarine Works, which was located directly behind it.
