Description
This is a row of six houses, numbered 8 to 16 Portland Terrace, dating to approximately 1835. The houses are constructed of stucco, with a rusticated finish to the ground floor. They have slate roofs and each house originally featured three windows. Pilasters are located between the individual houses. The windows on the first and ground floors have cornice mouldings above them; the ground floor windows are semi-circular headed with radiating glazing bars. Greek Doric porticoes, incorporating triglyph friezes, are a prominent feature. The rear elevations are five storeys tall and have a hanging slate roof. Some interiors retain moulded cornices and plain marble fireplaces.
