Description

No. 6 Little Oak Road is a cottage ornée dating from around 1830. It is two storeys high, constructed of painted brick, and features a hipped thatched roof. The west elevation has three casement windows, primarily with mullions and transoms, and leaded lights. There is a projecting glazed gabled porch supported by half-columns. The rear elevation, facing east, is more elaborate, showcasing fretted bargeboards, double pointed-headed casements on the first floor, and two four-light canted bays with thatched roofs and gothic heads. To the right side, there is a similar bay lean-to addition. The round-headed doorcase is likely from a later thatched porch. Inside, the cottage contains six-panelled doors with reeded architraves and paterae, along with some panelling featuring biblical texts, which probably dates from the 19th century and has ecclesiastical origins.
