Description

The Red Cow Public House is a late 16th-century building with 20th-century additions on the right and rear. It features a timber frame, rendered on the right and faced with white-painted brick on the left, topped by an old tile roof. The structure has a lobby entrance type with two framed bays and a gabled cross wing to the right. It is 1½ storeys on the left and 2 storeys on the right. There are two raking semi-dormers on the left, one with a cross window and the other with a two-light casement. A large ridge stack is positioned off-centre to the right of the entrance, with an end stack on the left.

To the left, there is a two-storey timber-framed gabled porch featuring a two-light casement on the first floor and an entrance below with a moulded surround and a 20th-century boarded door set back within. A 20th-century lean-to is located to the left with a small casement. The ground floor has two casements on the left: a two-light with a segmental head on the left and a four-light on the right. The first floor includes a three-light segmental-headed casement in the cross wing to the right, with a 20th-century rectangular lean-to bay beneath that has a lead roof and a 16-light window. There is also a later one-storey addition to the right with a hipped roof and a stack. Inside, there is a fireplace with a chamfered lintel.
