Description
No 147 Friar Street is a commercial building dating from around the 1880s. It has a three-and-a-half storey façade made of painted brick, featuring stone voussoirs and dressings, a cornice, and a parapet. The building includes three high segmental-headed dormers with ramped moulded coping and modillion cornices, with the centre dormer having a two-light window. The second floor has three pairs of plate glass sash windows. On the first floor, there are four depressed arches beneath a cornice and fascia, flanked by outer pilasters and dividing fluted columns topped with Corinthian capitals. The ground floor shop front, which has a similar cornice and fascia design, features a recessed entrance. The two-storey shop front is the main point of interest for this building.
