Description
26 Southampton Street is an early 19th-century building that stands at 2 and a half storeys tall and has been altered over time. The structure features grey brick headers with red brick dressings and quoins, topped by a tiled roof with a cogged eaves cornice. The right side of the house retains its original character, showcasing a single window with a tripartite casement that has a segmental head on the ground floor, along with a mansard roof that includes an end chimney and a dormer. The left side may have been rebuilt in the 20th century, showing a slight break from the original design. It has one range of windows, featuring a three-light casement on the ground floor and a five-light, likely reused, oak mullion casement on the first floor. This side also has a parapet with a cogged cope and lacks an attic. The left side is treated similarly to the adjacent No 28. The garden railings are made of cast iron, designed with arrowhead tops and patterned bars leading to the gate.
