Description
The Mount is a pair of houses dating to approximately 1876, situated on Christchurch Road. They are built of gault brick with lighter brick bands at the window sill and lintel levels. The houses have a hipped slate roof with a modillion eaves cornice and four end chimneys. Each house has four windows on the first floor, with the ground floor featuring projecting bays. The first-floor windows have moulded brick arches, while the bays have a cogged brick cornice and stone lintels with stop-moulding. All windows are marginally glazed sashes. The central entrances have paired four-panel doors with glazed upper lights, set within arched surrounds with a heavy bracketed hood and a cogged brick cornice. The houses are linked to number 57A via garden entrances, with a short section of wall punctuated by a pair of gables with a moulded coping. Original iron railings and standards are also present.
