Description
The Mount is a pair of semi-detached houses located on the north side of Christchurch Road, built around 1876. Constructed from gault brick, with one house (No 25) painted, they feature white brick bands at the cill and lintel levels, cogging on the porch, and a modillion eaves cornice. The buildings are two storeys high, with bay windows topped by turret roofs. They have stop-moulded lintels and cross and marginal glazed sash windows with bracketed cills. The outer pair of windows and a single window above the porch are set within alternating white and yellow brick arches. No 25 includes an additional bay on the left with one first-floor window and a chamfered corner on the ground floor, also with a window. This bay has a coped gable and off-ridge chimneys. The heavy porch hoods are supported by double brackets, leading to arched entrances with four-panel doors and rectangular overlights. The slate roofs are linked by garages, and end chimneys have cogged capping. The original railings and standards are still retained. These houses were likely built for under-managers of the Huntley and Palmer's Biscuit Factory.
