Description
The Mount is a house built around 1876 for the manager of Huntley and Palmer's, located at the corner of Christchurch Road and the Mount estate. This 2 1/2 storey building is constructed of Gault brick, featuring paler brick bands at the cill and lintel levels, with a modillion eaves cornice and a slate roof adorned with fish-scale bands. It has two chimneys that lack cogged capping. The windows are plate glass sash with bracket cills, cast-iron flower basket guards, and stop-moulded stone lintels.
The main facade has three bays facing the road, with angled corner bays. The left bay is a polygonal turret topped with a turret roof, and it features diaperwork in pointed relieving arches above the first floor. A central gabled break showcases diaperwork and irregularly placed windows, with paired windows on the first floor. The entrance is highlighted by a gabled hood with floral caps, leading to a decoratively panelled door. The east side has a coped gable with diaperwork in the gable, along with two windows and the angle turret facing the Mount. The property retains its original railings and standards.
