Description
71 and 73 London Road is an early 19th-century building that now functions as part of the hospital offices. It stands three storeys high with a basement, featuring a stucco exterior that has a rusticated ground floor and quoins. The first floor is adorned with a moulded cornice. The upper two floors are framed by four Roman Ionic pilasters, which are complemented by a plain frieze and a moulded and bracketed cornice that projects over the pilasters. The building has a blocking course and a slate roof. There are six ranges of glazing bar sash windows with moulded architraves; the first-floor windows have eared cornices, while the ground floor features round-headed windows set in arched recesses with panels below. Access to the building is from the side, and it has a large central stuccoed chimney stack.
