Description
Nos 196 to 200 on Kings Road, built in the 1840s, are a block of three houses formerly known as Wilberforce Place. The houses have been restored and feature plain Bath stone ashlar fronts with slate roofs. Number 198 is two storeys tall with a basement, displaying three windows on the first floor that have raised surrounds and glazing bar sashes with marginal glazing. On the ground floor, there are two French casement windows with balconies and contemporary cast iron rails, alongside a central two-panel door with a rectangular over-light. The door has a raised surround with a moulded pediment decorated with corner stele. Numbers 196 and 200 are three-storey gable end pavilions with channelled ground floors beneath an impost string of round-headed windows, which include apron panels below. Each has one window with cast iron rails on the side elevations. There are modern extensions: No 196 features a two-storey bay to the right, while No 200 has a replica style two plus four bay extension facing Eldon Road.
