Description

This early 19th century house, now incorporating a shop, is located on Broad Street in Portsmouth. The building is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, topped with a hipped roof covered in plain tiles, with brick stacks positioned to the left and right. It has three storeys and a single wide bay.

The shop front features a 24-pane window alongside a pair of doors. The right-hand door consists of six moulded panels above an overlight with intersecting glazing bars. A fascia and cornice embellish the entire shop front. Above the shop, on the first floor, is a tripartite canted oriel window with sashes, pilasters dividing the window panes, a frieze and a cornice. The second floor has two sashes, each set within a flat, gauged brick arch. A brick dentil course runs along the building, below a stone-coped parapet.

The left return of the building is constructed with grey header brick and red brick dressings, including a two-storey extension with a sash window under a gauged brick arch and a Welsh-slate roof. The interior of the property has not been inspected.
