Description
Number 2 is a house located on St George's Way in Portsea, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of grey brick in Flemish bond, with some red brick quoins. The roofs are mostly concealed, except for the right section, which features a plain tile hipped roof and brick stacks on both the right and left sections.
The building has a plan divided into three sections. The left section is three storeys high and has two bays, forming an L-shape with a right return at the rear. It features two 12-pane sash windows on the ground, first, and second floors, each set under a brick cambered arch. The centre section includes a 6-panelled door with a radial glazed fanlight, also set under a round brick arch, and has an oval-shaped roof light. The right section has a 16-pane sash window on both the ground and first floors, each set under a brick cambered arch. The first and third sections have a stone-capped brick dentil band and a stone-coped parapet.
The right return facing Kent Street continues in grey and red brick and includes a rounded garden wall with rounded corners at the rear of the first and third sections. The interior has not been inspected.
