Description

This is a late 18th-century house, now operating as a nursing home, located on London Road in Hilsea, Portsmouth. The house is constructed of random grey and red bricks in a Flemish bond pattern. It has a hipped roof covered with plain tiles and brick stacks are positioned on the left and right sides. The building is two stories high and six bays wide. Red brick pilasters define the quions and separate bays 2/3, 3/4, and 5/6. The central bay features a recessed four-panelled door with a moulded architrave, flanked by Doric pilasters, and is protected by a projecting porch with Doric columns supporting an entablature and pediment. The ground floor has two 12-pane sash windows on the left and three on the right, each set within a brick arch. The first floor has six similar sash windows, all set below a brick band and an eaves dentil course. The interior of the property has not been inspected. The building has undergone restoration and significant alterations in the late 20th century.
