Description
The town boundary stone, dating from 1799, is located at the junction of London Road and Torrington Road in Portsmouth. This four-sided obelisk is set on a corniced pedestal. The obelisk features the borough arms in relief, along with inscriptions that read "Burgi De Portesmouth, Liberatum Limer", and the base has the inscription "Anno Domini MDCCXCIX". Additionally, a bronze plaque indicates that this stone marks the boundary of the Borough of Portsmouth prior to the extension of 1832.
