Description
Milford Lodge is a villa built in 1845 by T.E. Owen, located on Grove Road South in Southsea, Portsmouth. The building is stuccoed and features a low pitch Welsh slate roof with stuccoed stacks on both sides. It stands two storeys high and has three bays. The entrance is on the west-facing side, set within a central projecting bay that has a rusticated front. The entrance consists of a four-panelled, two-leaf door with a fanlight above. To the right of the entrance is a narrow eight-pane sash window, and there is one sash window to the left and right in the outer recessed bays. A guilloche band runs between the storeys. On the first floor, there are two outer sash windows and a central six-pane sash window, with a narrow sash on the right. The central bay features a cornice and a parapet blocking course, while the flanking bays have projecting eaves. The right return of the building has paired facing gables. The rear, which faces Grove Road South, includes a gable on the right and a stuccoed bow window with two sashes, with the guilloche band course breaking forward as a cornice over the bow. To the left, there is a French casement door with steps leading to the garden. The first floor has three sash windows. The interior has not been inspected.
