Description

No. 20 Common Street is a cottage dated 1728, constructed from coursed rubblestone and thatch. The original part of the building consists of three bays and is one storey plus an attic. A south wing was added around 1975 to the west. The north elevation features two-light casements and a central eyebrow dormer. The gable has two-light casements and a datestone set in a brick frame at the apex. The south elevation includes a doorway and a single window, with a dormer above. The south wing is one and a half storeys high, thatched, and also has two-light casements. There is a stack at each gable, and the arrangement of the west bays creates a 'lobby-entry' type plan.
