Description
Lower Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with a rear wing added in 1734. It is constructed from coursed rubblestone and features a thatched roof, while the rear wing has a slated roof. The building has three bays and two storeys. Originally, there was an entry into a lobby in front of the stack between the left-hand bays, which has now been replaced with a two-light casement window. The adjacent bays contain three-light casements, and there is a glazed door in the right-hand bay. The first floor has three eyebrowed eaves-breaking windows, with three-light casements in the outer bays and a sash window in the centre. Two raking buttresses flank the central bays, and the gables are coped with kneelers. There is a brick stack at the gable end and a stone base to a brick stack located between the left-hand bays. The rear wing, which is two storeys and partially rebuilt, has a slate roof and features a datestone inscribed 'I.S.1734'.
