Description

Peartree House is an 18th-century house with an attached stable block, constructed from coursed rubblestone and topped with plain tile roofs. The main house features three bays and two storeys, with a central six-panelled door set within an architrave and doorcase supported by engaged Doric columns. This is topped with an entablature that includes a triglyph frieze and a thin modillioned cornice, along with a similar pediment that is accessed by stone steps. The house has sash windows with painted lintels and key blocks, and the gables are coped on kneelers with moulded stone eaves flanking the chimney stacks.

The south front has another central six-panel door within a panelled pilaster doorcase, which is reeded across the lintel and features a bracketed cornice. Above this door is a staircase window, with sash windows in the outer bays. To the east of the main house is a lower two-storey wing with two bays, which includes two-light casements and a single light on the first floor to the right. This wing has a gable stack and is connected by a single-storey link to the four-bay stable block that faces Pevers Lane. The stable block also has a plain tile roof and is built from coursed rubblestone, featuring a cambered arched full-height door in the third bay, complete with a brick arch and keystone.
