Description

Inn Farmhouse is a house, originally built in the early 1830s as a coaching inn. It is constructed of red brick with slate roofs. The north-east front is three storeys high and five bays wide. The central doorway has a stone Doric porch and a half-glazed double door with a rectangular fanlight featuring a vertical lozenge pattern of glazing. The windows are recessed and have barred sashes. A coped parapet sits atop the building. Chimneys are located on the sides. To the sides are two bays of window recesses, some glazed and others blank. At the rear is a two-storey wing, which incorporates a brewhouse. The house was built by Cubitts and represents a late example of a coaching inn. It ceased to operate as an inn by the mid-1840s, following the arrival of the railway, and subsequently became a farmhouse.
