Description
The entrance screen to Brayfield House dates from the 19th century and features cast iron gatepiers with octagonal plinths. The gatepiers have open shafts adorned with gothic cusping and castellated tops, which are crowned with ogee finials and fleurs de lys. On either side, there is a curved set of cast iron railings attached to the stone doorway wall, featuring enriched spearheads. The flanking stone piers have gothic panels, castellated cornices, and pyramid tops. Beyond these, there are curved lengths of stone wall that terminate in similar stone piers at each end. The original central gates have been replaced with modern wrought iron.
