Description
The Church of St Mary is a parish church dating from the 12th, 13th, and 14th centuries, with restoration work carried out in the 19th century. It is constructed of stone and features tiled roofs. The building has stone coped gables topped with a restored cross finial. There is a small west tower that includes a 19th-century embattled parapet, an aisle nave with a north porch, and a chancel. Above the 13th-century north doorway, there is a small Norman window. The south wall of the nave has two 19th-century traceried windows, while the east window is also from the 19th century, featuring two deep recessed lancets on the side walls, with the western ones located at tower level.
Inside, the church has a restored Norman chancel arch with scalloped capitals and one shaft decorated with chevron ornamentation. There is a small 13th-century tower arch and a font with an octagonal bowl on a shaft. The chancel floor contains stone memorials from the 17th, 18th centuries, and later, dedicated to members of the Farrer family.
