Description
The Stable Block, which includes a Stable Cottage and an attached arch, is located north of Brayfield House and dates from the 18th century. The building is constructed of stone and features a hipped old tile roof with a wooden louvre at the ridge and three flat-topped dormers near the eaves, the central one housing a clock. It is primarily one storey with a loft, while the cottage at the south end is two storeys. The structure has irregular openings, including an old stable door with a two-light leaded fanlight. The west elevation of the cottage features a central porch and two sash windows, with an additional sash window on the first floor. There is a one-storey stone wing attached at the northwest corner, covered with a slate roof. A high stone wall runs at right angles to the east elevation, connecting with the cottage and is pierced by an elliptical arch with a keyblock and imposts, which forms the entrance to the service yard.
