Description

15 Shenley Road is an early to mid-17th century timber-framed former farmhouse, located in Bletchley. The walls are a mix of roughcast brick and wattle and daub infill. The house is two storeys high, with a thatched roof and hipped gable ends. A modern addition extends from the west end. The front features three "eyebrowed" dormer casements on the first floor, each with three small lights, and four three-light casements on the ground floor. A modern gabled thatched porch provides the entrance. The front door is set within a reeded architrave surround with corner blocks, dating to the early 19th century. An external brick chimney stack is positioned at the east end.

The interior reveals exposed beams, with most being later additions, in both rooms flanking the central chimney stack. The original staircase ran alongside the chimney, but has been replaced with a straight staircase rising from the eastern ground floor room. A stud on the eastern wall of this room bears the date 1641 and the carved initials A H V. The roof structure is largely exposed on the first floor, displaying butt purlins, wind braces, and wedge piece collars, particularly visible in the western first floor room on the original outer wall. Some 18th-century glass panes and a leaded casement are present in the rear first floor windows.
