Description
Fences Farmhouse is an 18th-century house constructed of rubble stone, featuring ashlar stone on the central bay of the south front. The roof is covered with concrete tiles and there are brick stacks and two dormers. The building has two storeys and an attic.
The south front has a plinth and a first-floor band, comprising five bays. The three central bays project as a two-storey canted bay with a hipped roof behind a parapet. The ground floor openings are pointed and feature gothic arches with glazing bars arranged in an intersecting tracery pattern. The central bay has French doors, while the other bays have sash windows. The first floor has five sash windows, all with keyblocks, and the central window has a moulded keyblock.
On the north front, there is a later two-storey wing on the left with a slate roof. This wing has two casements on each floor on the west side. The main front consists of five bays, with a central six flush panel door that has panelled reveals, an architrave, and a hood supported by shaped brackets. There are two sash windows on each side of the door and three sash windows on the first floor.
