Description
This barn, dating from the 18th century with 19th-century additions on either side, is attached to and aligned with the east gable of Castlethorpe Lodge. It is constructed from rubble stone and features a tile roof that extends continuously from the house. The barn consists of five bays and has two wagon porches facing north. Between the porches, there is a 19th-century two-storey brick stable with a hayloft above, topped with a slate roof. To the south, there is a lean-to addition. The interior includes a triple purlin roof with raking Queen struts supporting the lower purlin and collars for the upper two. The tie-beams are chamfered and feature curved chamfered braces, with wall-posts resting on corbels.
