Description

The lychgate at the south-east corner of the churchyard of the Parish Church of St. Laud was built around 1890. It is a covered structure with a timber frame and plastered infill on stone walls that are waist high. The roof is covered with old tiles and is designed in the West Country style of timber framing, featuring small panels. The lychgate includes cusped braces at the ridge and diagonal cusped braces on the side walls. The gates are notable for their large diagonal braces and scrolled standards, with additional large braces on each side of the passageway. The roof is oriented at right angles to the passage.
