Description

This is a late 17th-century former house, now offices, located on Rochester High Street. The building is constructed of brick with a Kent tile roof set gable-end to the street, and has lateral stacks. It is a three-storey structure with a symmetrical three-window range facing the High Street. Features include stone coping and kneelers to the gable wall, which contains an oculus with glazing bars. Brick plat bands run between the floors and extend along the side elevation. The windows are 12-pane horned sashes, with cambered arches on the second floor and flat arches elsewhere. The main entrance features a good late 18th-century central panelled door with a rectangular overlight containing glazing bars, a moulded surround, and a cornice supported by console brackets. The side elevation has irregularly placed windows with cambered arches and 12-pane sashes, including a modern casement window on the second floor. A 20th-century extension and a fire escape are located at the rear. Inside, a fragment of an early staircase and panelling remain, though original features may be concealed behind later cladding.
