Description

ROCHESTER THE PRECINCT TQ 7468 SW 9/192 Cloister House (formerly listed as College Green) 24.10.50 GV II Houses (belonging to Cathedral). Late C19. Red brick, 1st floor title hung, with tiled gabled-end roof. Attached at left to Garth House (qv). 2 storeys. 6 window range. Paired or tripe lancets to 1st floor in wooden frames. 4 paired and one set of 4 lancets in stone flush surrounds with transoms to ground floor; off-centre doorway with simple pointed doorway. Internal porch with tripartite doorway. One large ridge stack and an external end stack that breaks through the heavy barge-boarding at right; single lancets to either side; upper floor slightly jettied. Rear wing with similar detailing. Asymmetrical rear elevation with 2 tall stacks, and a variety of casement windows, some with trefoil heads. Cloister House rises above the S wall of the cloister buildings, see ref 9/188.
