Description
Cloister House, formerly known as College Green, is a late 19th-century house belonging to the Cathedral in Rochester. It is constructed of red brick with tile-hung first floor and features a gabled-end roof. The building is attached on the left to Garth House. It has two storeys and a six-window range, with paired or triple lancets on the first floor in wooden frames. The ground floor has four paired lancets and one set of four lancets, all in stone flush surrounds with transoms, along with an off-centre doorway that has a simple pointed arch. Inside, there is a porch with a tripartite doorway. The house has one large ridge stack and an external end stack that breaks through the heavy barge-boarding on the right, with single lancets on either side and a slightly jettied upper floor. At the rear, there is a wing with similar detailing and an asymmetrical elevation featuring two tall stacks and a variety of casement windows, some with trefoil heads. Cloister House is positioned above the south wall of the cloister buildings.
