Description

This is a semi-detached house dated 1745, located in Gillingham. It was built using a red Flemish bond brick pattern, with two axial brick stacks and a tiled roof. The architectural style is Early Georgian. The house has a double-depth plan, divided by a through passage.

The exterior is symmetrical, with a five-window range, a thin cornice, and a parapet. The central doorway features timber pilasters with a Greek key frieze and cornice, a cambered head, and a recessed doorway. The windows are 2/2-pane sashes in flush frames, with rubbed brick flat arches. There is a blank window in the middle, and two hipped dormers in the attic.

Inside, there is a central through passage with doorways on each side. Number 22 has raised panelling, now mostly covered by mid-20th century boarding, and a central axial stack containing a winder stair to the rear. Number 24 is reported to contain original panelling.

Attached to the front are iron basement railings with urn finials. The house is considered a notably early example of a semi-detached property with a unified and composed facade.
