Description
No. 93 High Street is a house with a shop, built in the 19th century. It imitates the adjacent Gordon Hotel but is set back from it. The building is constructed of red brick with burnt headers, and the roof is not visible. The front has three storeys and features a regular two-window arrangement. A cornice with console brackets connects to the return of the cornice from the Gordon Hotel. The upper windows have rubbed brick flat arches and consist of two-pane horned plate glass sashes set in reveals. The ground floor has an Edwardian or later shop front with a dentilled cornice above the fascia, two deeply recessed doorways leading to the shop and the house, plate glass windows with turned angle posts, and a pedimented doorcase for the shop. The interior has not been inspected.
