Description

The garden alcove, dating from the 18th century, is located within the bowling green enclosure in Newchurch. It is constructed of red brick and features a round-headed porch with a keystone and ramped sides. The interior is shaped like a beehive. This structure likely originally included seating for spectators to watch bowling and provided shelter during bad weather. It is noted as an unusual example of an 18th-century garden building.
