Description
The barn at Lower Knighton Farm, located to the southwest of the farmhouse, is a Grade II listed structure dated 1693, featuring the initials ?D on the left end gable. It is constructed from Isle of Wight stone rubble and has two tiers of triangular ventilation slits, topped with a corrugated iron roof. The barn has a deep stone plinth, and the left-hand side includes a blocked rectangular entrance and a blocked mullioned window, indicating it may have been used as a byre or for stabling a carthorse. The east end gable displays the datestone and tumbling in. On the right side, there is an 18th-century window and door with red brick dressings. The barn consists of eight bays and features a central cart entrance, an angled queen strut roof, and two tiers of stop-chamfered through purlins. Inside, there are two internal brick walls built in Sussex bond.
