Description
Bowcombe Lodge is an L-shaped house located on Plaish Lane, known on the map as Bowcombe Cottage. The southwest wing dates from the 18th century and is constructed of painted brick. The northeast wing, which serves as the main front facing the garden, is an early 19th-century example of a Georgian house that has been Gothicised in a rustic style. The building has two storeys and features five windows. The exterior is finished in ashlar. On the ground floor, there is a verandah supported by wooden columns, beneath which are obtusely-pointed French windows with Gothic panes. The first floor has pointed sash windows, with the outer windows set in small gables and the three central windows arranged in an eyebrow shape. The glazing bars are intact.
