Description
New House at Bembridge School, built around 1925, is a school accommodation building designed in the Tudor vernacular style by Baillie Scott with assistance from headmaster J Howard Whitehouse. It is constructed of red brick with tile-hung bays and tiled roofs, featuring brick chimneystacks and an irregular plan. The main elevation has two storeys and includes three tiled canted bays that rise through both levels, along with three dormers and a plain wooden door. To the left, there is a two-storey section with a higher elevation, hipped roof, and a tall two-storey canted bay with timber framing and herringbone brick infill. At the rear, a link section has three brick arches on the ground floor and is timber-framed and plastered above, featuring three casement windows. This section leads to a half-hipped gabled area with a five-light canted bay extending up to the half-hip, which includes a mid-20th century extension at the rear.
