Description

The Jolliffe Monument is a chest tomb located approximately 5 metres southwest of the south aisle of the Church of St Peter in Shorwell. The earliest burial recorded at this site dates back to 1854, although the style of the monument is characteristic of the early 19th century. It features a moulded base and top, along with end balusters. The inscription panels are adorned with an incised design that includes sunray corners. The monument is enclosed by cast iron railings that have urn-shaped posts.
