Description
The Rectory is a late 18th century or early 19th century L-shaped building, featuring a mid 19th century range and a 20th century extension at the rear. The front elevation is made of coursed ashlar, while the side elevations are constructed from coursed stone rubble. The building has a hipped old tiled roof, with the rear range covered in slate.
The symmetrical front is two storeys high and has five windows, with a parallel range from the mid 19th century filling in the L shape. There are three cambered headed dormers, each with 8-pane sash windows. The first floor features five 12-pane sashes set in reveals with keystones, and similar windows are found on the ground floor. The central porch, dating from the early to mid 19th century, is gabled and has stone coping, kneelers, an obtusely pointed arch, and a blank shield above. The entrance features a six-fielded panelled door.
On the left side elevation, there is one 12-pane sash window and a brick chimneystack. The ground floor is made of stone rubble, while the first floor is red brick, which includes some modern windows. The building has brick chimneystacks. The rear range has a hipped slate roof, with two casement windows on the first floor and triple windows on the ground floor. Inside, there is a well staircase with stick balusters, a mahogany handrail, and scrolled tread ends.
