Description
34 and 35 The Strand are semi-detached buildings dating from around 1840 to 1850. They are three storeys high with a basement and feature four windows each, with two bow windows positioned to the east and west. Some of the original glazing bars are still intact. A block string course runs along the second floor. The entrances are located next to the bow windows; the door for No 34 is modern, while No 35 has a panelled door. Both doors have semi-circular fanlights, stepped reveals, and plain rendered surrounds with keystones. There are flights of steps leading up to the entrances, which have stone parapets and rendered copings on the inner sides. The steps are capped with piers, featuring ornate plaster urns on those of No 34 and simple cast iron urns on those of No 35. Nos 31 to 38 The Strand form a group with these buildings.
