Description
Nos 37 and 38 on The Strand are semi-detached buildings dating from around 1840 to 1850. They stand three storeys high with a basement and are similar in style to Nos 32 and 33, featuring a stucco façade with a plinth. Each building has two windows, with blind windows in the center that divide the composition. The basement, ground, and first floors have two window bows, all flat-roofed with cornices and blocking courses. The first floor has moulded sill courses, and the windows are recessed sash types with intact glazing bars, block sills, and no surrounds. The entrance bays are two storeys high, each with one window and a panel below on the sides. The doors are recessed, panelled, and glazed, with flights of four steps leading up, flanked by rendered parapets and capped piers on the outer sides. Nos 31 to 38 form a cohesive group.
