Description
Kingates Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with alterations and extensions made in the 19th century. It is constructed from Isle of Wight stone rubble and features a tiled roof with three brick chimneystacks. The building has two storeys and five windows. The left side of the farmhouse retains its 17th-century core and includes one gabled dormer with a bargeboard and pendants. There are two 19th-century projections that each have six-pane sash windows. The central first-floor window is a mullioned window, and there is a gabled weather porch with a round-headed opening that has brick lining. An external stone chimneystack is located on the left side of the building. The farmhouse has a deep plinth and features casement windows at the rear, one of which is set in a 17th-century mullioned surround, along with a 19th-century outshut. The right side of the farmhouse, likely a 19th-century addition, has two three-light casements with hood moulding on the ground floor windows.
