Description
No 2 on Church Street is a building dating from around 1840. It is three stories tall and has a stucco façade, featuring two bays that curve to align with the road. A thin moulded string runs along the second floor, and the building has shallow flat eaves beneath a slate roof. The upper floors have four windows, which are sash style with intact glazing bars, except for a marginal glazed casement on the first floor to the right. The ground floor features a late 19th-century shop front that has been altered but retains a deep, slightly concave fascia supported by three reeded brackets leading up to a cornice capping. This building, along with No 4, is part of a group with Nos 1 to 9 (odd) on High Street. Nos 3 and 5 on High Street are also of local interest, although there is no No 7.
